App.plex.tv unable to connect to PMS

Server Version#: 1.25.4.5468
Player Version#: 4.69.1

All of a sudden, PMS is not permitting app.plex.tv to connect. I am able to access Plex on localhost and <local ip:32400>. No changes in firewall rules, anti-virus etc - it’s literally just stopped working. Insecure connections are allowed.

Any guidance?

Have you configured your server to prefer secure connection or are they disabled for good?
If so… are you accessing the hosted web app through http or https?
Are you getting a particular error message?

They’re disabled for good (I’ve selected preferred)

Over both http and https I get the ‘unable to connect securely’ message

It’s a maddening issue as it has just ‘worked’ for the past 4 years, so I’m at a loss as to what is happening!

Have you already tried the basic troubleshooting like rebooting your server and router? Sometimes this can help if there’s some hiccup.

Why is “Preferred network” obfuscated in your network settings screenshot above? It is potentially relevant information and should not give away any sensitive information. Unless your server is on a public network. It’s not, right?

It’s on 192.168… - it’s a private network

I think I have identified the source of the issue - I had previously marked Allow Fallback to Insecure Connections as Never in an older version of Player (4.69.1). I’ve changed this to Always but this hasn’t carried forward to newer versions of the client (for example, my desktop runs 4.73.3) and this is one of the clients that fails to connect.

Is there a (easy) way to synchronize Plex Web instances?
