webOS Playback Issue

Server Version#: 1.22.1.4228
Player Version#: 5.11.1
TV LG oled GX series

I was on the plex preview app for lg tv and was working fine for months. Then every file I just got the orange spinner then a message saying an unexpected playback problem occurred.

This happened on every tv using the plex beta app (LG and Samsung) on every file. So I rolled back to the public version and it worked again.
Ive just updated the public version to the latest and the same thing has happened. The meta loads on the screen to show the file but when you try to play it - orange spinner and the above error

In the past I’ve tried uninstalling the app etc but the same thing happened

If I turn on logging I see repeats of the following

Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 28 and
SSDP: Error parsing device schema for http://192.168.0.38:1400/xml/device_description.xml

I cant revert back as this is now a public build. I need to refrain from updating my other TVs until this can be fixed

Can anyone help?Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-24_22-35-24.zip (5.9 MB)

Plex is having trouble with their API & authentication servers. It is affecting playback for everyone. Wait until the servers are fully operational and then test again.

Today in my tv lg, the application was updated, it immediately threw an error and asked to register again, for which I made the code request.

budapest error.

There was a loader update to be applied, when you login into Plex on your LG.

? Sorry not sure what you mean

It should be all good now

No - still the same - I can play the movies from the internet but any films now stored on my nas drive fail. The movie details load so I can see the desctiption etc but when I press play i get the orange spinner then the error from before. Ive tried removing the tv and ree-authenticating it, but that didnt resolve it either. The logs show this still

Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 28
HTTP simulating 408 after curl timeout
SSDP: Error parsing device schema for http://192.168.0.9:1400/xml/device_description.xml

This is repeated every time I try anything local.

When this happened on the beta version - I backed out to the old pubmic one and it worked again. But now this new version IS the public one and now doesnt work

Stuck now what else to do :frowning:

Reset the app

Hi - just reset the app. Logged in again and now get a grey screen with nothing on it. This happened before so I turned off the tv and back on and it showed all my media but failed to play any. Do I need to wait for the screen to load ?

The screen loaded and same issue. Just to add - I can play all the movies via a browser on any computer and I can play all the movies via the old version of the app

Just looking at the logs from last night and I’m seeing this

“headers”: {
“Accept-Language”: “en-GB”,
“Accept”: “application/json”
},
“statusText”: “error”,
“time”: “2021-03-24T12:22:35.613Z”
},
{
“type”: “log:message”,
“level”: 1,
“message”: “[Connections] [Loopback] is unavailable at http://127.0.0.1:32400/media/providers (Status 0)”,
“time”: “2021-03-24T12:22:35.615Z”
},

I am having exactly the same issue since the new upgraded client. Luckily did not upgrade second LG TV so that one still works. Annoyed there is no way to revert to the old working version. Have tried resetting app, uninstalling and reinstalling from scratch but nothing works.

Well your at a point, have you tried a full uninstall. Then turn Tv off from power source and re install app and re link. Nothing to lose, everything to gain.

Ill give that whirl but I dont hold out much hope for it - thanks for your help though :slight_smile:

Its frustrating as I’ve been a paid plex pas user for 7 years but when you need help there is no dedicated support - only the forums. The formums are good but unless you know what to search for then its difficult

Yes it’s a bit of mind field. Expand the idea and include a search with Internet Search Engine.

Opening up your issue with information like Tv model will help understanding. Cross your fingers all may be well soon.

Hi

So updated the kit and added LG OLED GX series
Ive also tried the following

disabled IPV6 on the tv and server, added plex server ip manually, reset the app, uninstalled/ installed the ap, unplugging the tv for 2 mins but each time - same issue

Has anyone else got the OLED GX or CX with the new app on it ?

Thanks

The old plex worked perfectly on my LG TV with a Synology NAS. Updated to the new version and it cannot see the NAS. Tried complete uninstall, turn off, reinstall - nothing. Tried setting the NAS IP address manually - nothing. Is there a way to revert to the old app because I use this ALL the time - as in, I rarely watch anything that is not on my NAS! So it’s a bit of a disaster!

I’m tearing my hair out with this - trying everything including wired only, wifi only, both… nothing happening at all. Why would the old app work 100% perfectly, no issues whatsoever and this one will not connect to my NAS at all? Makes no sense unless the app is faulty.

Same here. I was on the beta app and had the same issue so I backed out to the old public app, but the beta app now is the public app so in essence, bricked my plex functionality on my tv :frowning:

I found a fix for me, FINALLY!
I set the “Allow Insecure Connections” and “Prefer Insecure Connections” both to “Always” and it found my NAS. Then I set them back to the defaults and it still worked - until I turned the TV off and on again when it was broken again. So I set the first setting to Always again and it works. and survives a turn off and on. Crap “solution” but it will do for now I suppose.

I tried your suggestion - didnt work for me. I can see the server. I can select a file to play and when I go into it I can see the artwork and the description. But when I press play - it spins for about 20 seconds and then says cannot play
