I don’t know what to do. I’ve recently switched ISPs. I went from a cable provider to a fiber provider. The Plex Web interface is telling me that I am "Double-NAT"d but the fiber ISP is telling me that they can’t put their equipment into bridge mode to resolve the issue. I tried putting my Amazon Eero gateway into bridge but that didn’t work either. Am I totally hosed?
Unfortunately, no one except your ISP can help you in a CG-NAT situation. Only they can provide you with a routable public IPv4 address.
Some ISPs do that, most of them only for a (sometimes hefty) fee and most call it “static IP”.
I thought there were some paid options, but I’ve never looked into what was said on Reddit
As others already stated: Rent a VPS somewhere and create a VPN connection there. Or move on to the current internet protocol IPv6 your ISP hopefully provides you with. If not ask them why they cut you off the internet.
One of the first hits searching is a large site with 30-day money back guarantee Black Friday deal,
about $1.50 a month, not $10. I have Starlink CG-NAT, and I’ve thought about it trying a VPS.
Not to further hijack this already-solved topic, but Plex does have support for IPv6. If your Plex Media Server host supports IPv6 and you’ve enabled IPv6 support in Plex’s settings, it will advertise its IPv6 address to Plex’s servers if remote access is enabled. You can confirm that your server is doing that by visiting this link:
(You can find your Plex token using this article.)
It should show all of your servers and the addresses at which they can be reached. The caveat here is that only certain Plex clients currently support IPv6. The only ones of which I am positive are Apple iOS/iPadOS clients. But there may be others at this point (I’m unable to test anything else).
