Apple Movie Trailers and Buffering

Hi,

I'm using a dedicated 2011 mac mini as my HTPC running Plex over Wi-Fi (can't run a wire to it even to test).

The problem I have is that when trying to watch movie trailers through the Apple movie trailer plugin they are unwatchable due to buffering issues.  Is there a way to use the info overlay to see if this is a wi-fi bandwidth issue?  The mac mini shows no CPU spikes and has plenty of free memory whilst attempting this so I don't think that is the reason. I have looked at the overlay but there is a stunning amount of info presented and I can't find any guide to what each item is to allow me to diagnose the issue.

Is there a setting I should have enabled to optimise the bandwidth?

I plan to try setting up remote viewing, etc. in the future but have fallen at the first fence since I can't even stream locally over wi-fi :(

Any help or suggestions will be gratefully received.

Incidentally, I have a local 3TB HDD (USB2) plugged into the mac mini and have no issues with playback at all.

Cheers

Ian

same thing happening with me and i'm using wired connection on my mac mini and wifi on my ATV.  don't have problems streaming from the same mini using itunes moview

You cannot use the Apple Movie Trailer Plugin when running Plexconnect. The hijacking of the Trailer App and its URL calls make it impossible, as presently configured, to use the plugin with Plexconnect. This has been discussed in many threads already.

The other thing is that none of the plugins/channels are yet supported. Some work and some don’t.

That said, if you need trailers right now, the IMDb trailer plugin found in the Unsupported AppStore Plugin does work.

Hi,

I think there is some confusion.  I'm not using Plexconnect but the dedicated Plex Home Theatre preview release for Plex Pass members.  The built-in Apple movie trailer plugin isn't working and I was attmepting to diagnose the fault.  I can't seem to find the IMDB plugin either, the only thing that seems to be in the unsupported appstore is porn!

You do realize this is the Plexconnect forum?

As for the UnSupported AppStore I would say you need to update your version. The Imdb trailer plugin should be in there. And yes there is porn in it, or at least plugins that access adult sites, but you are not required to install them if they offend you.

Yeah, sorry, I realised that after posting it the other day and couldn't figure out how to move the post so reposted it in the Plex Pass Ninja forum.

Apologies for clogging up this sub-forum
