Is that the correct info you asked for?

Thanks, yes, it’s helpful.

Now, there is a transcoding bug in 2025.13 that is forcing all HEVC media to transcode. Is your server compatible with the new HEVC transcoding that was released in Jan that passes DoVI and HDR metadata? If your files are transcoding to H264, it could be tone mapping the file incorrectly, so that’s something to check. There are a few choices for tone mapping profiles you can choose from, so it might be worth trying a few out if that is the case.

None of your content is deinterlacing? This functionality should be working properly. Can you send me a sample file?

It works on my iPhone and iPad on both TestFlight as well as prod versions but does not work on new Apple TV TestFlight beta

Is this a bug or this is how it’s supposed to behave? Pressing up on the Apple TV remote brings up the timestamp and information of the file being played and when you press back, it exists the video, instead of just closing the information.

When you launch the Timeline single swipe up, if you wish to navigate use a second swipe up for a white Dot to appear on timeline.

Use << or >> to move in time , to exit use or just wait to resume

The thing is, pressing back while on any in-video menu should go back to video instead of exiting the video…

I don’t see why resume needs to go back

Because this is a documented tvOS behaviour and design, and is the way most other apps behave. The app should adhere to the design guidelines of the platform it’s running on.

When a movie or TV show is playing, you can display on-screen controls that show elapsed time, remaining time and other options.
Use your remote to do either of the following:

  • Show playback controls: Rest your finger on the clickpad or touch surface, or press up on the clickpad ring (silver remote only).
  • Hide playback controls: Press the Back button or the Menu button

For your sake, what was, does not mean it will be any longer. Plex is releasing a UI support doc shortly.

An app developer has it’s own right for a new player UI to differ. The ATV Plex app does not use the Apple Native player due to it’s terrible ability with HD and stuttering.

Can we just move on Guys :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Excuse me? Who do you think you are? Let him just say what he’s feeling about these changes and about the new UI. His view point is perfectly valid. If you are tired to read this over and over again, then be it like this.

This is the way :+1:

No he is lecturing his point of view, which is incorrect

As for who I am. I’m a forum member just like you.

That’s correct. In every aspect.

Wrong if it is a different player that has better abilities.

It does not follow these at all, when on screen menu is active and I press menu or <, according to the guidelines it should close the menu, instead it quits the playback and goes back to selection.

Edit: I’m blind I didn’t realize your post actually agrees with our sentiment.

“ does not use the Apple Native player due to it’s terrible ability with HD and stuttering “

On the contrary, on current (live) Apple TV plex app, the old player, so the apple player, plays everything smoothly. Plex player stutters like hell.

He doesn’t work for Plex and is agreeing with you.

An AppleTV app should function like every other AppleTV app, I don’t want to learn new quirks, let alone teach my elderly mother “new quirks.”

They need to figure out how to modify their single source code to the respective platform.

Yeah apologies I misread the whole post.

When using the remote to move back or forward in a show tapping < or > it brings up the show information and does not change the video timeline. I want to jump back ten seconds, not see the timeline.
Apple TV - 2025.10.13 (1025)

When pressing the play button on the remote to start a show from continue watching the show doesn’t start. You have to hit select, go to the next screen then click play/resume.

Live OTA TV still transcodes, but Craig has said this is on the radar in a previous post.
