OP is literally Plex employee. Read the first post.
Initially it was thread just for Apple TV.
Now it’s all Apple platforms
You’re right. Though again, the only thing currently in beta is the tvOS version…
Is it only me who has hdr color/brightness issues with the preview app on Apple TV ?
Compared to infuse everything seems brighter and uglier a bit too like skin tones and weird colour patches on faces, like there is some filtering or something missing.
What Brand and Type TV are you using?
Samsung s95b which supports hdr10 (which affected video uses) so it isn’t some transcoding or anything.
One difference between the new app and the old app is that the old app had a setting in Plex where you could tell Plex if your screen was HDR/SDR. The new app does not have this and instead respects the Match Content and HDR settings in tvOS’s settings.
Make sure you have both match content settings on and that your display is set to 4k SDR in tvOS’s settings.
I have not had issue with MY LG G4, but have found each Media type you can save Picture settings on TV.
Example: HDR 4k, SDR 1080p as inputs
I do have match both enabled.
Still there is noticeable difference in picture quality between infuse and Plex. (The latter being worse to my eye)
@SE56
Understandably when both infuse and Plex play the same content which is hdr10 there is no way that TV can be the culprit since the picture settings are saved per input device not per app.
Interesting as my Advanced picture setting change with File type and have to save different Inputs
AppleTV latest generation perf test, scrolling from Episode 1 to Episode 111 of a tv show.
Old app: ~13 seconds
2025.15.0 : ~24 seconds
The layouts do show dates now with the .15 update, works well enough to find an episode by date again, though almost half as slowly as the older app currently.
Is this preview still the latest app? It’s not in my test flight for updating but the regular plex app is the old one. Having some real annoying navigation issues, changing libraries when you’ve browsed is a nightmare (you have to scroll all the way back up to see the libraries - there’s also no fast scroll by letter). Have also had audio sync challenges.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but did something happen to the Plex TestFlight builds on tvOS? I have been a tester for years but the app simply disappeared from my TestFlight list a little while ago.
Where do I go to get access to the betas again?
I still have TestFlight access on my iOS devices. Did the program end for Apple TV??
For Apple TV, you’ll want to install the “Plex Experience Preview” app.
There are no results in the App Store on my Apple TV for “Plex Experience Preview”. Is there someplace else we should be looking?
Normally the betas would show up in TestFlight, like every other beta app I run on iOS/tvOS devices.
I have the opposite problem, they kicked me out of the iOS testflight, but I still have the tvOS testflight. Check on your phone to see if you were removed.
Yeah, I don’t see that in any of my TestFlight apps.
For your issue, maybe try this TestFlight link?
I think I found the TestFlight link, but it says it is full?? Why so many fewer spots than the previous Apple TV TestFlight program???
(Also, as a paid Plex Pass member, should we not get priority access to the beta over free users?)
The tvOS Test Flight has been lagging behind the iOS. Not sure why it takes so long to get the latest build out.
Honestly, it might have something to do with the fact that they have a bunch of different TestFlight projects?
Three from the last few posts in this thread:
- Join the Plex: Watch Live TV and Movies beta - TestFlight - Apple
- Join the Plex Experience Preview beta - TestFlight - Apple
And it wouldn’t surprise me if there are more…
It seems the first one is closed permanently, but is what @TheLivingBubba thought was the latest iOS version. I can see how an old TestFlight link might be kicking around, but it is weird that there are still published builds associated with it (presumably…).
The second one works for me and I’m currently signed up for it on my iOS devices, but not on my Apple TV tvOS devices. It looks like it is still open for signups too, though I have no idea why the tvOS version was removed from it.
The third one supposedly is for tvOS “Plex Experience Preview” (whatever that means…), but it is “full”. I have no idea if it is just tvOS builds or if there are other platforms in the TestFlight as well.
It would be great to have an official response on the differences between these various Plex TestFlight links.
The second one is current iOS beta version.
Third one is current ATV beta version and is ATV only.
I think the releases are on an alternating schedule.
