Is this with all of your media?
Does the fast forwarding seem to be a set amount, like 2x? Or is it extremely fast?

FWIW previously I had a 125ms offset set. With this new release it seems to have multipled that value by 1000(?) maybe. Hard to tell, as it says “12500…” but seems to be enormous judging from the video. Not sure if there is some way to quickly reset that short of a delete and re-install.
Could you try again with the most recent build and your HomePods?
The changes I made to A/V sync in this build might fix some of the issues.
I’ll take a look. Seems like the previous value didn’t get converted properly.
Just updated to 9644 on iOS 18.2and I’ve got a weird thing occurring with DTS-HD MA multichannel audio when using AirPods Pro’s. I’m not getting audio playback at all and when I go into the Spatial Audio menu, it’s constantly switching back and forth from stereo to multichannel at crazy fast speeds.
I’m not seeing this with TrueHD->Flac and it’s not happening on all DTS-HD MA audio.
I’ll PM you Verbose logs from the client
My thermal state on the phone is also jumping to serious pretty fast.
Which DV Profiles are now supported?
Just tested the new Beta. The videos were playing now. The first one with totally distorted Audio (and Video), stuttering and sounding like a very short Multi-Echo and when starting the next video, Plex Crashed Completely. Going back to the release-Version now.
With build 9644 the only way I can get watchable playback with the HomePod mini stereo pair connected is by turning both new options off and turning on the old audio engine. Any other combo of those settings still triggers the weird fast forward glitch that was happening previously.
Edit: Odd behaviour that occurred after I posted this. I was on the TestFlight build screen, Plex was paused in the background. Suddenly audio starts playing (hand aren’t near the remote) and when I switch back to Plex the video is playing as well. This is different from what was happening before where the audio would keep playing as soon as you switched away from the app… that isn’t happening anymore.
Here are the logs. seems to be upset with network abstraction layer units… not that I know an awful lot about those, but these two links were interesting:

And it’s attempting to play via a homepod connected as the audio output for this tv.

The Verbose Logging seems to be way too much for the app so try turning that off to see if any of the really weird playback things keep happening.
I’ll have another build soon that reduces the logs to a reasonable amount and fixes some of the smaller issues that were mentioned.
The “invalid NAL unit size” in this case means not valid for “stripping” DV NAL unites. Essentially these logs are saying that every packet has no DV NAL units which is true because the media is SDR.
I’m going to disable that specific log as it is not very helpful for us here/
it’s doing just fine on other devices.
it really is just playing via homepod that it goes haywire.
Seeing the same on my iPhone.
When playing a movie, it seems to be switching audio tracks very rapidly between the 3 audio types (7.1, 5.1 and commentary). I can hear bits and pieces of all at the same exact time as it cuts in and out between them. Here is a screen recording showing this.
Just tried (9644) build.
Results with my use case: Direct to LG OLEDG4 internal speakers from ATV Gen 3
Video Regression. FAIL
Audio Regression. FAIL
This did not matter with Newer Audio Engine or NEW Renderer On or Off.
At this point, rolled back to (9616) build, Problem resolved.
Audio DTS -HD, DTS. AC-3, EAC-3 - PLAY with Variety of 4K HEVC
Please instruct if this behaviour is not intended with (9644)
What do you mean by regression? They didn’t play or you were seeing an issue like others mentioned, fast forward, switching audio types, etc?
I was seeing a similar issue with bluetooth speakers but only with the verbose logging.
So those seem to be related. I’m looking into why.
I’m one of the users with the paired HomePod Stereo setup. With the latest update and both the new audio and video engine turned on, trying to start playing my 4K videos is all messed up. The audio keeps coming in and out and the video is taking off like it’s trying to play in like 3x speed. I then tried going into Infuse and playing the same 4K video and it plays perfectly. I really wish you guys could just buy Infuse and inject their video playing into the main Plex app. ![]()
Server version 1.41.3.9314 seems to fix it actually, updated server, didn’t update the Apple TV app and issue is resolved.
