Previously in the Plex Home Theater world, I pressed the menu button on my Apple Remote, and Plex launched, and the remote worked from then on with Plex.
I trashed PHT, and have started using Plex Media Player, however, menu doesn’t launch this app when Plex isn’t open, it now does nothing. I have to manually open Plex Media Player, and then the Apple Remote works.
I thought I was the only one asking a while back but seems a few more threads have popped up since then. Major issue for those of us running the split screen set up.
As long as it’s on the list , hopefully it’s added soon enough.
*note: you can also assign PMP to launch globally (I’ve set my apple remote to ‘menu (held)’ to activate PMP)
just wish Remote Buddy would recognise my PS3 controller (most frustrating!!)
Sorry, I’ve tried but I don’t understand how Remote Buddy works.
I’ve set home button with homescreen function but nothing happens!
What I must to do for start Plex Media Player immediately without activate remote buddy menu???
*note: there is now a new update for remote buddy that auto puts PMP into the available apps. (no need to download previous link/RB behaviour)…
@axelv73 - launch remote buddy, go to preferences, select ‘mapping’ and then 'global mapping on the left panel… set ‘menu (held)’ to >Behaviours > Activate PMP behaviour (PMP shall then launch ‘globally’ (from finder or other apps) when you hold down menu on your IR apple remote)
…then select PMP from the behaviours on the left panel (see Plex icon) then set your IR apple remote to what ever buttons fits your needs.
Recently PMP running on my Mac mini has started launching by pressing volume up on my harmony remote. A nice but unexpected surprise. Is this being experienced by anyone else?
Please sort out the launch of PMP with the “apple remote”. It’s a great function with the old software (Plex Home Theatre). Should have been incorporated with the launch of the new software.
“tobiashieta” mentioned it was to be added with the v1.1… How about the next update mate?
