Apple TV 4k (2021) HDR color banding

I just deleted the app (again) and reinstalled it and unplugged hdmi to renegotiate the connection and it all seems good now. Not sure what was happening but now it’s better. No more weird motion artefacts and the colours look as they should.

That’s good to hear, I look forward to when it’s out for us normal people

I greatly prefer the Plex UI over Infuse.

how can i sign up or receive an invitation to test beta versions with TestFlight?

The instructions to sign up for TestFlight betas are here, but Apple has limitations on beta group size and it’s often full.

Can one get an invite code to redeem without having an Apple device besides the Apple TV?

Any idea when this fix will go past beta to general release? Days or weeks?

Update. I’m testing the beta .12 with TestFlight. From the first quick tests I did I can confirm for now that the banding on HDR10 is gone. later I try the DolbyVision and HDR10 black level which was completely busted too. I’ll update you shortly

Heads up - when you try to redact something, don’t use a transparent marker.

Not a huge deal for this, but just letting you know in case you ever need to redact anything sensitive.

I just updated to 8.12 and I’m seeing something similar with all my 4K HDR files that are uncompressed MKV remuxes from discs. Did you ever find a solution? All my 4K HDR remuxes are unwatchable using the Plex player since this new update. :frowning:

What a huge bummer. Everything was working fine for me with 8.11…

I created a new thread for this problem:

8.12 fixed hdr/dv banding issue on ATV 2022.
As for the 2017, I will try some files soon.
