LOL let’s thanks Plex everyone for their patience over the last three years plus to get this solved and many other major issues for the tiny platform that is tvOS.

HI @DaveBinM,

One question, following the thread I remember you talked at some point about adding at least the possibility to delay by default the audio on general settings manually in ms.

That would be enough for me by far. Any chance we could see that kind of feature?

I can’t comment on anything that would potentially be a new feature, I’m afraid. We generally don’t get into technical specifics, or comment on timelines or new features.

As I previously mentioned, licensing of codecs has no impact on AV Sync. We license several codecs, and work within the limitations of those licenses. We have no interest in cutting corners or trying to avoid paying licensing fees.

Plex does not provide any formal customer support, beyond billing and our existing support articles. While we do monitor and reply to posts on here, expecting someone to post that often when there are no changes or anything of significance to report is not something that will happen. I know that isn’t what you want to hear, nor what your expectations are, but I’m just being honest about what will or won’t happen.

So Plex takes our money and tells us to ■■■■ off. That’s a nice business model @elan .

That’s not what I said. Also, please stop pinging other employees unnecessarily.

That’s what you said. You don’t provide formal support, only when it comes to money. We pay you to use the apps, other users utilizing other people’s Plex server pay to use the apps but if problems are reported using the apps, no formal support is given or promised.

I’m sorry I summed it up originally in the way you didn’t like, but it’s what you said before and what I just said above.

I think it’s time to report this app to the apple App Store for deception and terrible business practises. You shouldn’t be allowed to make money if you don’t want to support your paying customers at all.

Buying a Plex Pass enables certain features, and nowhere does it mention anything in terms of support, and we’re clear about what buying a Plex Pass enables. With the exception of the iOS and Android Mobile apps, all the apps are free. I’d also ask you to review our Forum Guidelines, as further such messages in breach of the guidelines may result in suspensions from the forum.

I don’t need support. Just give me a functional Plex experience

Ok so could you please explain why the Plex player can’t direct play all codecs like Infuse if you do indeed have the proper licenses? Because speaking on the infuse forums, it seems as if by them holding ALL the proper licenses for A/V codecs, that gives them the ability to direct play everything without issue and result in way less issues overall.

So this is why I do think it’s a licensing issue of some kind, A/V sync may not be the direct result of licensing, but the player can’t direct play and decode a lot of different file types, while the same file will direct play within Infuse perfectly without issue. Could you please explain why that is?

I do agree with you. However I stand by the fact that how you respond is more important than how often you respond.

I do not wish for Dave to have to respond weekly or every other week, that’s not really helpful. However I would ask that he or one of the devs of the app actually let us know real details about what’s going on with the app. As he did below 1 day ago:

I appreciate Dave for sharing that. That’s the kind of updates users want. And if the opposite happens and they decide not to rebuild the audio engine down the line, I hope he would let users know so people aren’t expecting something to come that isn’t.

I’ll continue to use Infuse until things get sorted out as it’s by far the superior player on Apple TV right now. Guess I’ll check back in 3 years to see if any progress has been made! LOL

or, some people spend their money and are too stupid to actually look at what they’re spending it on.

lets be honest, this wouldn’t calm people down at all. If Dave were to repeat the same thing every week or multiple times a week, people would just complain he’s just saying the same thing every time and not really supplying an update. It’s a no win situation for him really.

You spend money on something and then the company you gave your money too breaks what you bought and we are too stupid to know what we bought? 3 plus years and still no fix? Sure bootlicker lol

No we are asking for proper information/updates like how they are making/fixing their audio engine. That info helps. You’re awesome lol

This app is so far behind in many aspects compared to free ones (Vlc, Jellyfin) and paid ones (infuse, emby) it’s unreal and all their care about is shoving free streaming services to the users WE brought to Plex sharing our instances with but we are dumb to expect more for the money we spent :joy:

As I’ve stated before, licensing and A/V Sync are totally unrelated. Infuse can Direct Play things that we can’t because their licensing and our licensing are different. I also never said we have licenses for every codec, I said we have licenses for several codecs. When it comes to things like this, it requires both us and the licensor wanting to reach an agreement, and that doesn’t always happen, regardless of what we may want to do ourselves. This isn’t us not wanting to pay, or not having the technical ability to support these codecs, sometimes, agreements just cannot be reached, or other parties do not want to engage at all.

As I mentioned in a previous post, we do not generally share any technical details of our work, and I won’t be going into any more detail than I already have.

lol yeah they pay

We have no issues paying for codecs and already pay for several. What is and isn’t licensed isn’t relevant to A/V Sync, as I’ve said several times. Please try and be more constructive, and less combative.

This is really disheartening, but at least we now know where we stand.

Wonder why they will license to one media player and not another. Very strange.

Infuse it is then…
