Apple TV 4K audio sync issues with enhanced player

And no Dolby Atmos in any other apps. Not really a solution having to change settings on a per app basis.

Yeah I feel that as well, doesn’t seem like they value the lifetime Plex pass supporters at all. Power users also don’t seem to get much recognition either, as the focus does not seem to be on optimizing A/V playback for YOUR files right now.

Look on plex.tv homepage, you’ll barely see anything about ā€œyour mediaā€. It’s all streaming services and ads for other things that have nothing to do with a personal media server. But I’m actually relieved Plex is heading this direction. They have made it loud and clear that if you want the focus to be on your media, look elsewhere.

My permanent solution/recommendation? Use Jellyfin. Jellyfin isn’t perfect, but it does A LOT better than Plex once you learn your way around it. And it has zero A/V sync issues via Swiftfin and other clients I’ve tried.

When a company shows you who they are, believe them! 3 1/2 years and counting with no fix for A/V sync? They are letting YOU know how important YOU are to them.

With that said, I’ll bow out of this thread now. I no longer have a dog in this fight as it’s clear Plex is not the way forward for me. Wish all of you the best and hope Plex decides to put in the effort to fix this for everyone.

Godspeed!

I just wish they’d leave a final, stable build for home media. I don’t need updates, I need Plex from 4 years ago that just worked. I cringe every time my device updates an app, especially now I’m on Apple TV and can’t just revert it myself.

Made absolutely no difference to me. Still miles out of sync.

Thought I read something earlier in this thread somewhere that the newest Apple TV 4K doesn’t have these sync issues - is that true, or am I misremembering?

I’m on the latest model and have had audio sync issues but only occasionally when using my soundbar.

With my HomePods connected I never have had issues.

Haven’t had any since todays update but probably too early for me to say for sure.

The new Testflight version does in fact still exhibit the sync issue for me (no issue watching Plex content with Infuse, for the record), but it also now exposes the manual audio offset setting. Adjusting +150ms on the one item I watched so far worked great.

Same results here on a Samsung QN90B and S60B soundbar via HDMI. Sync issue reduced a little, but having the ability to manually offset from Plex makes all the difference in the world.

In terms of UI, the offset slider is slightly too low and looks like it could do with a little space padding at the bottom from my perspective, if that’s possible?

Thanks for putting work into this area

I’m running the latest (3rd gen/2022) 4K model as well as the previous (2nd gen/2021 and 1st gen/2017) models and all have the issue for me. It’s not hardware related so much as tvOS.

Would love to try the beta, but it looks like I was removed from TestFlight at some point(?) and it’s not allowing new users. :frowning:

3rd Gen ATV 4K here too and the audio offset fixes the issue for me. Set it to +75ms whilst watching a 720p AC3 5.1 file and the sync was perfect. Also nice that this offset then sticks as all other files I tried started with the same offset and were also in sync. 1080p AC3 5.1, 1080p AAC 5.1, 4K HDR EAC 5.1 and 480p AAC 2.0 all played back in sync with the +75ms offset automatically applied.

Is it just me, or did the offset option just disappear? It doesn’t appear to be a new TestFlight build or anything. Really strange

Yep gone for me too:/
Hope it’s fixed - but also nice to have it just incase!

Good to know I’m not going crazy. And I’m back to the bad old sync problem. Only solution at the moment is to set an offset in my TV but then the sync is wrong for everything other than Plex. Please bring back the slider!

Oh okay, my audio sync is perfect atm.

Running h265 ā€˜.ts’ streams through xteve for live tv
I do remember when I set the streams to h264 they had more of an audio delay so can understand it may not be solved for all scenarios - but for mine atleast, is spot on!

Edit: used to run a +100ms delay and that was pretty good for live tv and movies, but now everything for me seems fine without the delay.

Huzzah the slider is back! All praise the offset slider!

Ran into this issue recently, insane how it’s been a problem for over 3 years with no solution in sight.

I noticed the same. Had the slider set to +75ms and the issue was fixed, next day the slider disappeared but I no longer had a sync issue. I just assumed the slider had disappeared but the offset I set up was still being used.

I wish I would’ve known about this issue before buying a lifetime pass.

Are people still seeing the issue with the beta version?

Yup. Made no difference at all to me. And I have no desire to be messing about with delay sliders on all 4 Apple TV boxes either.
