to be fair, its a one off change that takes a few seconds that has completely resolved the issue for me. It’s worth the one off amount of work.
For me it appears to drift. I’ll check again.
This is why I think it has more to do with the video playback (why the old player works vs the enhanced player), and why different codecs seem to affect how off it is. Thus why the ‘new audio engine’ doesn’t fix the issue either.
This is why I said many comments ago that the devs are not looking at ‘X’ as the issue because in their minds, ‘it can’t possibly be X’…
The way that video is being handled via the enhanced player is likely the root cause of the sync issues.
AirPlay is basically unusable with the new audio engine on my Apple TV 4K 1st gen. Audio drops out for a second every minute or so, then stops altogether after several minutes of playback. It does seem to correct some audio sync issues I’d previously had with Airplay, though.
Plex developers, WHEN WILL THIS BE FIXED?
This should be your TOP priority as you have people here with LIFETIME PLEX PASSES that are unable to use the product they gave you money for.
Apparently you need to be reminded that taking care of your PAYING customers is your top priority. And you’re not doing that, Plex. Other (competing) players play the same content without any audio lag. Go figure it out!!! Or offer full refunds on the lifetime passes we bought. Please post the process for getting a refund if you refuse to fix your product.
“Stop inciting anger” - plex probably
Update released today! Release notes suggest it may be fixed! Anyone check.
Didn’t fix it for me.
Same. Still just using the +75ms offset.
I updated both my Apple TVs and it seems to have fixed the issue on one, but not the other. Playing the same 1080p media from a local server
Setup 1: LG CX, ATV4K (2nd Gen) - OK
Setup 2: LG C1, ATV4K (2nd Gen) - Needs +50ms
Both TVs have the same settings (Game Mode) and the ATVs are setup with identical settings. ATVs are hardwired using Ethernet, only difference is that Setup 2 is hardwired directly and Setup 1 goes over a MoCA bridge.
Doubt the MoCA bridge makes a difference. Might swap ATVs and see if the issue follows the ATV
With the modern player + audio offset setting, audio sync is fine at last !
Settled at +100ms for now.
Haven’t tested extensively with my media files though.
10 or 5ms steps would be better than the actual 25ms as I still notice some audio delay but definitely better.
Change in the offset setting being smooth - no stutter - is a nice feat.
Basic functionality via a workaround is a nice feat?
Lol the current state of Plex
to get the audio offset you need the beta right?
The same setting adjustment in Kodi or on my audio amp does make the video/audio stutter, that’s all.
Trying to cheer the devs efforts a little.
I get your point as I had this in mind : this fixes nothing for non-powerusers, as they will never dig into this setting and deal with it ; or worse, they will never notice the delay
Plex targeting mainstream users AFAIK, they’re definitely failing here as this is something that should work out of the box.
This is public since version 8.21, see https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-for-apple-tv/121357/146
8.21, sure slider works. But it shouldnt be needed.
I need around +125ms for my apple tv on LG C1 when using airpods pro.
Infuse i need nothing. ATV 4k 2nd ed.
Like others here the latest version seems to have helped, albeit I have to set the offset to +150, however on most of my content the audio will randomly just cut completely after a few mins of watching and it’s like I’m on mute. If I go out and back in to resume then the audio restarts ok. Anyone else getting this problem?
Looks like I’ll still need to use Infuse.
Stil having audio sync issues with latest version and if spatial audio is being used it cuts out…
What a joke. Worst then ever.
ATV4k plugged directly into the TV. All 4k material loses audio sync, no matter what video codecs or audio tracks. Same material plays perfectly on Infuse running over the same hardware. I’ve tried the ATV “Match XX” switches, with restarts in between; no difference, same problem.
Just another data point for you.
I have the exact same issue, but it seems to only happen when playing 4k HDR files with EAC3 or DTS. 1080p videos don’t have this problem it seems for me. I’m on ATV 4K 3rd gen with tvO 17 Beta 2.
I tried wiring the ATV directly via ethernet cable but it doesn’t make a difference.
