I am attempting to play 4K (even tried converting it to 1080p) content remotely and it the Plex client constantly is telling me that the connection is not fast enough, even though if I play it via the web client it works flawlessly. This would leave me to believe there is something wrong with the Plex client on ATV? I am using the new player and having the same issue. It is direct playing the content. I have a 1gbps connection and the Plex server bandwidth logs even show its not getting above 25mbps so PLENTY of bandwidth. And I have no idea what would be causing this issue only for ATV clients.Plex Media Server Logs_2018-12-22_18-59-35.zip (3.9 MB)
The server isn’t, it’s hardwired, the client is Wi-Fi. Although when checking the speeds the client is getting 100mbps so that should be sufficient to play, shouldn’t it?
I thought that might be it, but with the newest plex server I can see the bandwidth. It didn’t go over 27mbps which is far below my bandwidth so it doesn’t make any sense.
I’m also not using uncompressed videos, they are HEVC videos running at 17mbps according to the bit rate in a MKV container.
Yes I do, in the dashboard it shows its direct playing, meaning it shouldn’t be a CPU issue because there is no conversion going on but it also doesn’t look like a bandwidth issue because 18Mbps isn’t a lot and every connection I’ve tested it on as far above that (100+Mbps) so I’m not sure what us causing the issue and I can’t find any clear cause for it.
