Apple TV 4K No Sound

I purchased an Apple TV 4K (newest gen) a few days ago, installed the Plex app and began streaming… with no sound. I would have to back out of movies and start them over until the sound would finally play. The next video I’d stream would have no sound, hence repeating the process. Through trial and error I discovered the issue. If I change remote streaming above 3 Mbps at 720p, the sound in the Plex app ceases to work. On all my other devices I have it set to 8 Mbps at 1080p and it works fine. The 3 Mbps setting won’t streaming Dolby Digital, only Stereo PCM. Will this issue be remedied soon? Thanks!!

i’ve had problems where the videos try to play with 5.1 sound. if you swipe down, then right, you will be able to check this.

The sound on my videos won’t play at all if I switch remote quality past 3 Mbps at 720p. It’s quite frustrating as I have a buddy that shares his movie library with me. The remote setting needs to be at 8 Mbps, 1080p to play in Dolby Digital.

Update: If I turn off Dolby Atmos on the Apple TV, everything on Plex plays fine in Dolby Digital 5.1 regardless of the quality I choose. If I set the Apple TV sound to “Auto” everything plays fine except no Dolby Atmos from sources that support Atmos. Sounds like a bug to me.

Fixed! I subscribed to Plex Pass, updated my server, set internet streaming to unlimited and everything works as it should!!

Nope, didn’t fix anything. Ended up taking ATV #2 back to Best Buy. Darn shame Apple isn’t on top of this issue!

Nvidia Shield Pro FTW!
