Apple TV app gets stuck "searching for sources" in guest mode

I have installed the Plex server on a Synology NAS, and installed the Plex app on my Apple TV.

When I launch the Apple TV app, I select “Continue as Guest.” Then it gets stuck on a screen that says “Searching for sources” forever, even if I kill and re-launch the app. If I re-install it, the same thing happens.

I did not have a Plex account until I tried to post this topic; I was trying to avoid creating one, but now that I have one the Apple TV was able to connect to the Synology.
