I get the following message when trying to use Apple TV with Plex;
Bruce’s Plex is currently unavailable
Please verify that the server is running and has a network connection. It teels me to go to https://support.plex.tv.
I have tried to find an answer to the problem and can’t find anything to solve it.
I have this problem on three different Apple TV’s , newest editions. They all worked at one time.
I am able to access the Plex server from iPhone, iPad, Windows Laptop, other Macs and remote users. At some point the Apple TV’s just stopped being apple to connect to the Plex Server.
I had a similar problem awhile back. My issue was my subnet mask was not the same between my apple TV and my server. A different subnet mask doesn’t seem to affect other apps, but it did cause a problem with Plex and other apps that tried to access the Plex server (VLC etc.). Occasionally I also find it helps to reboot my router as sometimes the Apple TV seems to lose its handshake with it.
Anyway, hope this helps.
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to reboot the router several time already and it did not solve the problem. I confirmed that the server and Apple TV are both on the same subnet. What is strange is that I also don’t connect to another server on the same network. When I am given the option of choosing a user I am presented with a user with a name and a lock which I believe was something that Plex did awhile back and which I changed. I don’t see this user option on any other devices.
