I have tried every solution I can find and nothing works. 2 apple tv’s and 1 smart tv. Says Plex Server Currently Unavailable. I’ve reinstalled the app on all devices and it successfully links to my account. Rebooted the router. Signed in and out of all devices and the server. Nothing.
Libraries can be accessed on the desktop plex web.
I had this issue. My subnet mask had gotten changed. You need to check your subnet mask on the ATV and make sure it matches your server. For some reason mine got mismatched when my router had a major hiccup. If you’ve already done this, then I apologize for wasting your time.
Do you mean check the subnet mask on the network settings on the desktop and network settings on the ATV? Or is it within Plex Media Server and Plex player app?
Both. The subnet mask on the ATV must match the subnet mask on the computer hosting the Plex server. AFAIK you can’t change the subnet mask on the ATV. I had to change it on the computer hosting the Plex server. I don’t remember where the info was on the ATV, somewhere under settings. If you can’t find it, let me know and I’ll figure it out again.
The weird thing is, only Plex seems to require this. iTunes still works if the subnet mask doesn’t match.
Ok. I got off my butt. On Apple TV go to settings->Network and subnet mask should be listed (usually in form ###.###.###,#). Now on your Mac 5.1, go to System Preferences->Network. The subnet mask should be listed and it needs to match the ATV. If it doesn’t, then configure on the Mac side to match. If it does match, then I’m not sure what’s going on.
I’ve been thinking about this. I still think your problem is that your devices don’t think they’re on the same network as your router. I’m assuming you’re using DHCP. My configuration is a little different. My server is connected via Ethernet cable to the router. I have my desktop/ server configured manually and I assigned a dedicated IP address to my desktop on my router. I did this because for some reason my router would drop my desktop from the network about every two days and I’d have to reboot the machine. I have seen some weird problems if for some reason the router is assigning the same IP address to two different devices. By any chance did you recently add a device to your network? I’m just throwing out ideas for reasons your Plex devices can’t see your server.
Do you know how to log into your router? Usually you can see a list of devices there and their assigned IP address. You can see if two have the same address
Usually the solution is to manually assign an IP address. I pick an IP address with the last three digits being high, as most routers assign sequentially. So, for example, the last three digits are 240. It’s unlikely you’ll have 240 devices on your network. Usually you need to know the MAC address of the device you’re assigning. I did it for my desktop/server. If you do it for your Mac, you’ll need to go into system preferences under network and configure. It’s a pain. Alternatively, you can try removing the most recent device you added and see if that helps.
When I enter the code on my phone to link my account it’s successful and it shows my Plex server name correctly but it says UNAUTHORIZED. Could that be the problem? How do I authorize it?
