Apple TV not recognizing active Plex Pass for Home user

Hello,

I am a member of my boyfriend’s Plex server. He is the server owner and has an active Plex Pass, and I am added as a Plex Home user. On my iPhone, I can use the Skip Credits feature without any issue under my account. However, on Apple TV, when I try to enable automatic Skip Credits, the app does not recognize the Plex Pass.

Instead, it prompts me to either restore a previous purchase or subscribe. When I select “Restore,” I receive the following error message: “No previous purchase could be found for this Apple ID. You can activate this app with a one time purchase or a Plex Pass subscription.”

This issue only occurs on Apple TV. On all other devices, including my iPhone, Skip Credits works correctly under the same account on the same server. It appears that the Apple TV app is checking for an App Store purchase tied to the Apple ID rather than validating Plex Pass through the Plex account and server owner’s subscription.

Could anyone please clarify why this is happening and how it can be resolved?

Will need to see the Apple TV logs to figure out why it does not think you are in the Plex Home of your boyfriends account.

Did you sign in to the apple tv with an apple id?

I checked the Apple TV logs. They show that the restore attempt finishes with “0 transactions found,” and all subscription products are marked as “not purchased” for the Apple ID signed in on the device.

It is clearly checking the Apple ID for App Store purchases. There is no indication that it is querying the Plex server or checking Plex Home membership or server-side entitlements. It does not appear to be looking at the Plex account at all in this step.

At first I was logged in normally using tv.plex/link. After that, since others suggested logging out and back in, I tried that several times as well. Both again via tv.plex/link and also signing in with Apple ID just for good measure. Unfortunately, none of those attempts made any difference.

I am experiencing the same issue. My son is a home user on my plex server with lifetime pass. His ATV does not let him turn on auto skip because it isn’t recognizing him as a home user being equivalent to plex pass. Please advise.

He just did it and no change. It works on his phone, not his Apple TV.

Can he switch to the Server Admin Account and switch back to his account to test. GEMINI seems to think it’ll help the handshake needed to enable this feature on ATV.

Thanks for the suggestion. My account is login with Apple, so have to figure out how to make that work, then will try.
