I have lifetime Plex Pass, why does my Apple TV not know?

I’ve just found out my Apple TV’s Plex client doesn’t think I have Plex Pass, because presumably I never subscribed to it via the Apple eco system, how do I get it so that I can auto-skip intros and the likes?

I had had Lifetime Plex Pass for over 10 years, so I’ve definitely had my value out of it, but still…

My understanding is you don’t need a Plex pass to use any of the big screen apps. What functionality is lacking?

OP clearly said they can’t auto-skip intros.

Are you signed into the Plex app on your Apple TV using the same Plex account?
Does the issue persist if you sign out and back into the Apple TV app?

Yes, I’m signed into my Plex account on the Apple TV, under settings, there are 3 options I had never spotted previously:

  • Skip Ads in Recorded Shows
  • Skip Credits
  • Skip Intro

All three are currently set to Manual - which works, the prompt during shows gives the option to skip intro and credits fine, but if I try to change from Manual to Auto, it prompts me to Subscribe to Plex Pass or “restore purchases”, but I never subscribed via Apple, so no purchase is restorable.

Edit: In addition it appears there are themes locked behind the same “Subscribe to Plex Pass” paywall.
