Apple Tv Remote issue

I’ve encountered a weird issue with Plex on Apple TV. As soon as I launch the Plex app, my remote starts glitching - touch surface and buttons will only respond intermittently, remote disconnects and reconnects continuously. This behavior continues until I restart the ATV, and as long as I don’t relaunch Plex, the remote returns to normal. Anyone heard of this problem before, or have any suggestions?

Never observed that specific issue with Plex on my 4th Gen Apple TV, but did see somewhat similar behavior generally.

Now that I have the 6th Gen Apple TV, I will never use the old touch remote as long as I live.

Do you have any other 3rd party remotes paired? Have you tried unpairing/re-pairing the Apple remote?

Yeah, I’ve tried everything… unpair/pair, unistall the app and installed it again. and nothing. as soon as I open PLEX app on the apple TV the remote goes crazy and doesn’t respond to any of the commands properly. very annoying, as I cant us PLEX anymore… and its our main media center in the house.
and no, I don’t have any other third party remotes in the house.

It’s bizarre. I am no Dev, but it’s hard to imagine how Plex could interfere with remote operations, but clearly that’s what you are observing.

For the hell of it, what happens if you unpaired the physical remote and only use your phone as a remote and then start Plex? Do any weird glitches occur?

And do you have one of those older non-touch Apple TV remotes to try just for fun?

Also, what is your audio device? I was just thinking as a long shot, if it is a Bluetooth or HomePod or something, that might be a candidate to look at. Maybe something Plex is trying to do with Audio settings, but again, a long shot.

Hopefully someone smarter than me can chime in.

I’ve looked into the audio… nothing in there, I don’t have any other Bluetooth devices connected.
Regarding the phone, I’ve tried and guess what, it’s also glitchy on the phone… so it’s definitively something to do with PLEX app or and Bluetooth…

I’ve tried everything, I’m a bit desperate too.

I don’t know if a dev will read this post… and I don’t know how to raise this with PLEX directly…

Exactly the same happens to me. I’ve been using Plex for a long time in my Apple TV (4 years at least) and never experienced any problem. Now I have the glitching problem too. Remote connects and disconnects every 5-10 secs making it impossible to use the remote. Tried everything in the settings and pairing unpairing remote, uninstalling. Nothing seems to work. Anyone managed to solve this?

Having the exact same issue too. I’ve got an ATV4 with the 1st generation black glass top remote. As soon as I am in the plex app my remote doesn’t work at all. I can sort of get it to work with my iPhone as a remote but it’s very slow. Makes the plex app completely useless.

Update to date PMS and running 7.26 on ATVOS.

I’ve tried reinstalling the app and it does nothing. I can’t even prompt the login screen with the remote.

Really disappointed, this needs to be fixed!

Anyone have a fix for this?!

The same thing happening with my Apple TV remote AND then I try the iPhone remote AND that has glitches and doesn’t work and yes then I try my iPad…. It’s crazy all these issues
