I am grateful that the ability to repeat media file was added to the web player. Thanks.
I could really use such a function on the Apple TV app, too.
I suffer constant pain from a fall that compressed several spinal disks, followed by unsuccessful surgery. To help me sleep at night, I use ambience audio and video files on my Apple TV. Right now, I have to play 8 hour YouTube videos in order to keep the sounds going through my much-interrupted sleep.
I would prefer to use the Plex app on Apple TV to repeat a large variety of shorter (15 minute) ambience video and audio files that I have collected.
At any rate, I request a repeat function in the Apple TV app.
Thanks.
Hey @GlennRP how has your recovery been coming along? I’m sorry yo, that this simple and standard music player function is missing from Apple TV (two+ years and counting).
Was in the mood for some somber tunes to throw on repeat only to find…well, I’m here so that says something. Ha.
So, a workaround would be to use Plexamp to Air Play your Plex library to your Apple TV. But that won’t work with your video files. Unless you can screen mirror from the Plex app a custom playlist.
What’s weird is even Plex for iOS is missing a repeat button. I wonder what the aversion is. Ha. It’s not like we’re building a tower and omitting the 13th floor here.
Zorg out.

While it’s true that the Plex app on tvOS doesn’t have a repeat function, you can enable repeat on your iOS device.
- During playback, click on the playback settings button (bottom center of the screen – icon is a bit odd, I suppose it’s supposed to show that there’s some additional details/settings
- Tap
Repeatto switch betweenNone,Repeat allandRepeat one.
It’s the same pane where you can enable normalization, fades, the visualizer and the sleep function – as well as setting the playback speed (only for audio).
