Apple TV sits and churns 'Randomly' - PlexConnect related?

Hi -

I set plex connect up and managed to get it working on my TV through Apple TV and using the trailers icon.

Since doing this, I have noticed some misbehaviour on the Apple TV...

- Netflix sometimes hanging/siting and churning (running on the apple tv)

- Using iOs App Remote to control music on the Apple TV - Sometimes not responsive or does not result in music start/output.

None of these things used to happen previously so I am assuming it is somehow tied to Plex Connect. I am guessing perhaps the DNS re-direction to my music and plex server which is a mac mini. Note that the mac mini is not the sole music source as I use iTunes match and so the apple tv should get music from the cloud when I start it via iOS App 'Remote'.

I am wondering if the DNS redirection to my mac mini is causing things to 'hang'? Could it be the plex server is hanging or something else going on? The few times i have tried to connect to plex via say a mobile device (also connects to my mac mini i guess) -> it seems to work perfectly.

thanks for any thoughts.

Brett

Number one thing to try: Replace the 8.8.8.8 address in your /PlexConnect/Settings.cfg (on your PlexConnect computer) with your local DNS server — either your ISP's DNS, or the address of your home's router.

OK, will try this thanks. I see another thread just today about my server (mac mini) should be ON always....I 'assume' it is waking up on network (wireless) connect right? That setting (wake up on connect) is checked ON in the settings....or should i disable sleep on the mac mini and see how it goes....

Can i just edit the .cfg or do i have to stop/edit/start plex?

cfg information is gathered during start - so you have to stop/start PlexConnect somewhere...

If your Mini doesn't wake up, then nothing on the AppleTV will work — not PlexConnect, not Netflix, not any of the normal Movies & TV Shows apps — so if those have been working for you at all, then your Mini has been waking. :)
