Is it really not a goal of the developers of Plex, that we can listen to music on the go with the Apple Watch via Plexamp? First and foremost, all that is needed is a native app on the Apple Watch that can play downloaded music when we are running or do a workout. After that, you can work on the feature to stream the music over LTE…
At least a native app to listen to downloaded music via the Apple Watch would be extremely valuable! It’s a pity that Plex doesn’t even comment on it…

Totally would love this. Really enjoy the plexamp app but i use my apple watch with downloaded music too much so this doesn’t work for me. If you guys add a watch app where we can download music onto the watch and listen offline I’m cancelling my spotify and moving to plexamp.
Emby has an Apple Watch app, maybe it’s time to jump ships after 5 years of waiting…

This is currently the only reason that I really need to keep a normal music streaming service around, just to have music on my Apple Watch.
Downloading music from Plexamp onto my Watch would totally eliminate that and could make it my one-stop-shop.
+1 - We’re heading 2023 and this was requested a long time ago. Should I waste a vote on this? It’s incredible that we still don’t have one app for the Watch. I don’t want to pay for Apple Music (It doesn’t have my precious underrated albums) - Please, this is an emergency!

Why is this even relevant, for something like Tidal you can pay for Apple Music and that’s it, all integrated, all native. What we want is to do the same as with plexamp in the watch whenever is possible.
I’ve asked and gave my vote for this feature more than a year ago, not sure what’s the problem for the plex team, it is quite clear apple watch now is something trending and widely used.
Plexamp on my Apple Watch Ultra would be amazing! Playing downloads would be okay but live streaming the audio would be the ultimate.
Any news about it? Is necessary a standalone version for Apple Watch at least for listen music.

I don’t currently have Plex pass but Plexamp could be the main reason to switch. Sadly moving to a new ecosystem for music can be complicated and require tons of features.
This use case (while niche) could be a good gateway for me to migrate at least all outdoor music needs on Plexamp. (And also a good signal as a growing music platform).
I’m not sure there’s any comment from Plex team in this thread. Maybe a feedback or a point of view on this topic could help

I think there are better APIs for this to exist now. Hope we can have something like this in the future.
With 40 million Apple Watches sold, perhaps someone at Plex could present a business case for the development/maintenance of a dedicated Apple Watch Plexamp App.
@elan mentioned; building/maintaining a new/additional app is the main hurdle, so apart from cost it should be possible.
Finally I can have my music library on the Apple Watch! After 5 years, the wait is over

(I’m truly sorry if I misled you I was trying to make a joke :(, however I tried Emby after hesitating for a long time and almost cried when I had my own music streaming to the watch.
