I’m having a very similar problem with the Apple TV 4K. More than half the times I navigate to the Guide, it will display the Guide at the correct date/time (as expected) for a split second, then the time bar at the top of the grid flies forward to some arbitrary point in time and the grid goes grey. The only way I can get it to work again is to endtask the Plex app, and then it always works once it starts back up. It does seem to happen more frequently if some time has passed since the last time I loaded the Guide, but I don’t think it’s related to sleep in my case because I’ve set my Apple TV to never sleep.
Apple TV 4K, PMS running on a Mac Mini (Catalina.) Both are set to auto-update and appear to be on current versions. I have 36 channels in my Guide.
A great explanation of this issue, describes exactly what I get everyday with a 4K Apple TV and a standard Apple TV ( 2 of these). I do find if I just go to Home and go direct to one of the live to air channels displayed, watch it for a little while , then go back to Guide it has then synced up with the correct data and time.? Other than this I go in and restart my ATV and then start Plex app again and you can actually see Plex do some kind of reset as it starts and syncs to the correct date and time. Getting very annoying !
This may help some folks experiencing the Plex Guide not syncing to the correct date and time when they start up the app , guide just goes to grey screen in the guide area. Up until now the only way to fix this for me was to do a restart of the Apple TV, start the Plex app again, and then the guide would sync to the current date and time . Found a nice way to just quit the Plex app and then restart the Plex app. With the Apple TV remote double click the TV button and it will display all your current apps that are loaded and running, you can then swipe left or right to find the app you wish to quit, get to the Plex app and the. swipe up to close the app. Then hit menu then select the Plex app to run the app again, go to guide and your guide should be showing current date and time.
here is a youtube video showing how to do this.
Hopefully this will help until Plex get a fix for this very annoying issue.
