AppleTV guide gets stuck

Server Version#:
Player Version Current

When going to live tv on the guide page, if I scroll down, the screen does not follow the highlighted section of the grid, once it goes off the bottom of the screen, it gets stuck and stops responding. I can still use the other libraries, but the live tv section stops working. I can still use live tv from the home/recommended section. The Apple TV is up to date, 4th gen. I have reinstalled the app as well.

What server version are you accessing?

I am having a similar issue with identical hardware and might have some new details to add.

On all of my Apple TV 4k’s (I have 5) if I put the AppleTV to Sleep for an extended amount of time ( a day or so) when you come back and wake up the AppleTV and start Plex the live TV guide is frozen. The only fix I have found is to restart the AppleTV from settings and then all works fine … until the next extended sleep.

I have up to date server, a ton of hardware resources and all else is 100%.

Looking for ideas.

This is helpful! I will try to replicate and if I do, will get the devs to take a look.

Same problem here on a ATV4K and a #3. Scroll to bottom, highlight gets stuck, stops responding. [xx]Have to reboot the ATV to fix it.[xx]

Have to quite the Plex app on the ATV to fix it.

I’ll check on this one as well. Thanks for reporting!

That seems extreme; are you saying that the ATV locks up completely? And that you can’t just kill Plex via the usual tvOS process for killing an app?

No, sorry, just have to quit the Plex app. I’d forgotten, I don’t use the LiveTV/DVR very often.

I can’t reproduce the scrolling thing, but I’m putting my Apple TV 4K to sleep for a day or so, and I’ll check it again.

Out of curiosity, how many channels do you have, and what kind of remote are you using?

If you could provide some logs, that would be good too

9 channels, atv remote. If you give me some direction for atv logs, I’ll send them along

https://support.plex.tv/articles/212639598-apple-tv-logs/

When downloading the logs via the URL, if you get an error, go to the Plex app settings and toggle off/on the Enable Log Download setting.

I can’t replicate this; I waited about 36 hours; the guide screen was gray/blank. In one case, my husband navigated away from it before I could do anything but it wasn’t frozen apparently.

In the other case, the guide screen was gray/blank as well but I let it and when the guide next autoupdated (a few minutes later), it displayed the current broadcast info.

I’m afraid we’ll need logs from the AppleTV once you’ve restarted the app. See my post above on how to do that,.

Exact same issue here. Not convinced it has anything to do with sleep function.
Added a screenshot to further clarify the issue. when scrolling down to the last visible channel in the screenshot, going down one more channel the highlight disappears of the screen and the guide doesn’t scroll up. You can now no longer scroll in the guide screen. Menu button still functions and you can leave the screen but when going back you still can’t navigate in the guide so it’s useless at this point. Hope this helps clarify.

Here’s the log from the apple tv when the guide error occurs.Guide error log

I’m having the same issues. Apple TV 4K. I have 8 channels in my Live TV guide and can only see 7 of them. If I scroll down to see channel 8, the guide won’t move and I have to force quite the Plex app to get out of Live TV.

Having sameissue , have two Apple TV’s one standard and one newer 4K one working off a Synology server, and using HDHomeRun Quad tuner . Opening Plex on ATV, say the next morning after working fine the night before , the guide just freezes and does not sync up with the current day or time , channels are there but guide detail blank / gray! Sometimes have to end up resetting APT to get it to work ! Happens almost everyday now !! Everything else works fine .
Really annoying

Some insights into this issue. My antenna has been picking up an extra channel which I added in the settings under plex so I now have 9 channels instead of the previously 8. This fixed the scrolling issue I had with the guide getting stuck on appleTV. Just to confirm I disabled the 9th channel and tried again in appleTV and guide gets stuck again trying to scroll down to the last channel.
So for any devs reading this, you can replicate the issue if you only add 8 channels to your guide. Maybe some of the other users here who had the same issue can confirm the number of channels they have.

I’ve had 9 in my channel list the entire time, the only thing I’ve seen is that if the channel list has to scroll down and then back up, that is what causes the problem.

Same problem with scrolling down in the Guide. I have 8 channels. I tried adding another channel, but I’m seeing the same issue with 9 channels. I added another channel and the problem went away. 10 channels seems to be the sweet spot!

yep, happens here as well. Sometimes the cursor gets stuck on the top menu.
