AppleTV playing MKV with embedded SRT Subs - 100% CPU

Hi, all

 

Is there anyway that an AppleTV can play subs without transcoding the full movie. All my other IOS products like iphone, ipad has no trouble direct playing mkvs with subs from my NAS, but the AppleTV force the server to do a full transcode, and on a NAS, that is not an option - not a good one.

 

If the other IOS products can play the mkv, I would suspect the AppleTV to do it as well?

 

Is there some form of setup in the plexConnect that i'm missing?

PlexConnect can play external srt subs without transcoding. See this thread.
