I have the problem that all apps (at least the Plex iOS Client as well as Plex Media Player on Mac and the Web Client that is hosted with the PMS itself) recognize the local PMS as being remote. That leads to automatic transcoding for the devices, even though transcoding would not be required (or at least could be much higher bandwidth), because the devices will use the settings specified under “Settings -> Quality -> Internet Streaming”
The problem appeared quite some time ago on Windows, but even after the migration to the official Docker container the problem persists.
In my network I do have real IPv6 (even though I disabled it in the PMS settings) and use the non-standard internal IP subnet 198.18.64.1/18. I entered the subnet in the PMS advanced settings (LAN Networks). Additionally, I use a custom domain that is configured in such a way that within my network, the internal IP is returned and externally the IP of my DSL connection is returned. Due to the custom domain I’m also using a LetsEncrypt TLS certificate.
Everything else works, the only problem seems to be that the PMS is always recognized as being remote.
Any hints/ideas what the problem could be?
