Per the subject: (I tried searching for relevant topics, but was unable to find anything.) I know the ability to page up and down were removed some time ago, and I thought it must have been a glitch/bug/oversight, but now it appears that it was intentional. Will it ever be returning?
Also, I remember (several years ago now, already) when thumbnails used to not be an issue, no matter how fast I scrolled through my library. Now, if I scroll (one at a time, since I can’t actually page/down anymore ) the thumbnails always say “loading…” and I have to sit there waiting, while the player lethargically loads everything in. Is this just the accepted norm, moving forward? I’m assuming so, since it’s been that way for years now, too…
Thanks in advance for any insight!

pg up/pg down would be nice to have access to again. I frequently browse pages of my library (ie scan, skip two rows, scan, skip two rows, etc) via a remote. Being able to program a keystroke to do that would be excellent, and I don’t see how it would negatively affect any other user with its presence. Could be missing something.
I’ve noticed the lag with thumbnails too and always figured it was just a move to a “leaner” approach; something like “only load 2/3/4 rows beyond what’s on screen”. At least that’s what it looks like on my HTPC. I can let the page load, scroll down a 2-3 rows, and the icons will be pre-loaded. If I skip down 4-5 rows, the first 2-3 will be cached, but the rest will not be. Some user control over this behavior would be a welcome addition. Maybe something like an “icon buffer size” toggle:
Small (2 rows)
Medium (12 rows)
Large (48 rows)
Full (cache entire library)
The above numbers are arbitrary, and obviously I don’t know how feasible it’d be to implement this, but I think you could leave current caching behavior as the default. Just allow people to choose a more extensive caching option if they so desire.
@Blip, what type of behavior/performance are you looking for with thumbnails? I’m assuming you’d lean towards the full cache so there’s never any thumbs loading? Or somewhere in between?
@onekmilesbehind Yeah, as far as the thumbnails, I’m not sure what under-the-hood improvements would need to be done, but I do know that like 8-9 years ago, I used to be able to scroll through my entire library on Plex and the thumbnails were all right where they should be. Being that that was almost a decade ago, it’s hard to believe there isn’t a solution they could implement to fix it in this version. Same as the page up/down…it really confuses me that anyone felt like it was a good idea to remove it.
