I have my Christmas movies in a specific folder - I then have a library called “Holiday” that contains that folder. That folder is also in another library called “Movies”.
I was doing some testing with Genre tags and it appears that if I tag a movie in the Holiday library with a new Genre that it doesn’t show that tag on the same title in the Movie library.
Not sure if this is a bug or are tags specific to a library? I assumed since the file is the same on disk that a tag would be specific to the title (even though it might be in multiple libraries)?
If you put the same thing in different libraries then they have different media IDs and are considered different media items in the database that can have different metadata assigned to them
I’m curious why you decided to create a different library for this instead of just using either Collections or just using Categories.
Yeah I know about that - still takes more clicks to get to. See my recent comment regarding the Plex Preview version though. Would be really nice to have a lot more customization in the user interface - for example, the ability to create “shortcuts” to filtered views of my library. Could easily use Collections for the view - just allow them to be pinned. And that’s another reason for not liking the new version - a scrollable list across the top is not nearly as easy to navigate as one on the side (especially one that moves out of the way when needed).
On my Home tab I would need to scroll down to know there is more stuff listed. By default I can only see “Continue Watching” and just start to see “Recently added in concerts”
However over on the side bar I can easily see at least 9 libraries. Now it would be really slick if I could pin a Collection on the side (instead of having to dump everything inside Home).
And taking the new interface into account it’s even worse. Across the top I can only see 6 libraries.
The other issue with having the Collection in Home is there is no way to see all the movies in the collection without scrolling horizontally through the entire list. So for my example of Holiday I have well over 50 items. If a collection is in Home there should at least be an option to see the entire collection without needless scrolling (appears that the IOS app does at least).
