How can I achieve to go to an artist from a (playing) Track of a “various artists” Album? The link brings me to the Album artist (various), not the track artist.
In this case I would like to see the artist page with all albums i have and also tracks from other sampler style albums in the popular tracks list.
It would be nice to be able to navigate using the artist(s) name(s) in a sampler style album.
Is it possible to organize my library i a way these features are supported or to enable these features in the next version?
To expand a bit on this: internally in the Plex database, “Album Artist” is an indexed field, so you can list albums by Album Artist, but “Track Artist” is not indexed. Plex has no way of combining the two or using Track Artist info in any meaningful way, other than just displaying it.
In principle it’s possible to do what you want (see Kodi or iTunes/Apple Music for example), but it would mean a pretty major redesign of the Plex internals.
Thanks for the detailed answer! As a software developer it looks possible to me to add these features. So i hope this huge improvement will become worth implementing one day! Despite some little issues (e.g. Chomcast Audio connectivity for both plex and plexamp apps) i really like Plex.
I use it for audio only, and with a little more care in the details plex player will be on the same experience level as Amazon Music, Tidal etc.
