So currently when using Plexamp and CarPlay, while moving you can’t scroll past the letter J (or something like that) in the Artist list due to Apple restrictions.
I know another app I had previously (can’t recall the name now) got around that by giving a screen of all letters to select and then it would break it down further after that. Wondering why something like that couldn’t be done? I know someone will suggest just using voice but I hate doing that since half the time it won’t find the right artist for me.
What the other app (called Prism) does to get around this is it displays a screen of all letters in the alphabet. Or even a subset like “A-C”, “D-F” etc.
I’ll try and get a screenshot today.
So even though it’s restricted you can still get to artists further down alphabetically.
Here is how Prism (which can connect to Plex) does it. First screen shows the normal artist listing…however, clicking the “A.Z” over on the right opens the 2nd screen where you click on the letter of the artist you want to go to and then get a filtered list. I think this would address the issue perfectly.
normally, the limit is 50 so the best way to make the list work is it break it down based on first letter. This way you get 26 categories (assuming you have artists for each letter) + and handful of special characters/numbers.
