ASUSTOR server locks up overnight almost every night

NAS model: AS6704T

The server freezes and refuses connections every 2-3 days. It always seems to happen overnight. If I shut down the app and start it again, it works fine again at least until the following night. Sometimes it lasts days. At first I thought I found a pattern. It seemed to only freeze on days when a new server update was available. However the last 3 times it froze that wasn’t the case.

Both times Plex crashed while performing Intro Detection on G:\TV\TV\The Daily Show\Season 28\The Daily Show - 2023-03-20 - Sen. Lindsey Graham.mkv.

I’m not familiar with Asustor NAS, but G:\ and L:\ are Windows file paths, not Linux file paths.

Also, they seem to be duplicates of other shared folders:

Plex did not have any problems with Intro Detection for Daily Show episodes using /share... paths.

Two suggestions:

  1. Move the file or modify Plex Library settings (which folders are added), so Plex looks for the episode using /share/… paths instead of G:.
    That is the only file listed in the log files using G:\ pathing. All others use /share/…

  2. If Plex still crashes, move the file so it is not seen by Plex, then rescan the library & empty trash. This will check if there is something specific about the file that is causing Plex to crash.


Here’s the end of Plex Media Server.1.log. You can see Plex performing intro detection for The Daily Show episodes. It crashes when trying to analyze the 2023-03-20 episode.
