Question for( ChuckPa) I was told you may be able to help me with my issue. I am using Synology Nas DS920+ as my Plex server. When using my plex application I don’t see nas I have to restart the nas or stop and start the plex server on the nas before I see the DS920+ again for short while. Thank you Jonas .

Can you stop Plex, dig down into it (to where you see the ‘Logs’ folder) and Right-click it and “Compress to Logs.zip” ?

Any idea which file is causing the problem?

If you can play other files OK then that’s one thing.
If you can’t play any, that’s another.
Restarting doesn’t help us here since the logs are already wiped.
Another way to diagnose – Are there any audio problems with what’s playing ?
I don’t think I have an issue playing media or with audio, it all plays ok. Live TV plays ok. Just not able to see the nas after a while unless I restart the nas or stop and restart plex server on the nas.

Yes overnight! Should I delete everything and start all over?
Deleting everything and starting over isn’t going to confirm you have a bad media file nor will we find it.
At this point, we need to first confirm this happens when PMS is analyzing your media
If we can confirm that, next we can look at WHAT it analyzed and get an idea where things are happening.
At some point, it will come down to trying to play each file (or analyze each file) until we recreate the error.
For now, in Scheduled Tasks, turn Deep Analysis OFF and save
Let’s confirm the error is happening when it’s trying to do that.

When there’s bad media somewhere, it’s a pain. It can be the smallest thing that VLC or another app will skip right over by dropping the data but PMS (FFMPEG) isn’t as forgiving.
If the codecs are bad, we’ll figure that out right away but you’d probably have also discoverd things won’t play so bad codecs is very unlikely at this point.
I did the step you told me to do, turn the deep analysis off and apply. No luck still doing same thing. What now? Thank you Jonas

I have found one problem.
Please get your media out of the PlexMediaServer shared folder
Create a shared folder called “Media” or something and put all your files in there
The PlexMediaServer shared folder is visible ONLY so you can:
- Make backups
- Get the logs if you need to in an emergency
It’s VERY fragile. DSM 7 controls it. I do not.
I can’t even control permissions inside the shared folder on DSM 7 anymore
(On DSM 6, I could fix anything automatically. DSM 7 prohibits all that)
