Server crashing ASUSTOR

Server Version#:1.23.5.4841-549599676
Player Version#:

Where do begin, had this running for a year, recently it has begun crashing, I cant find a reason. Simply restarting the service on the NAS fixes the issue for a few hrs, but this is frustrating.

  1. Update to Plex Media Server v1.23.6.4881. It contains a fix for a database locking problem affecting earlier versions. The problem can cause a Plex Media Server crash.

  2. Configure your server for debug, not verbose, level logging. See Reporting Issues with Plex Media Server for instructions.

  3. After the next crash, restart the NAS, then download the server log files and attach to the thread. Drag the ZIP file into the message window. It will insert at the cursor location.

  4. Someone familiar with Asustor will then be able to look at the log files and assist.

I have had the same problem for a while now, at least a few months.

Server Version: 1.24.3.5033
Asustor NAS: AS5304T

Mine seems to crash overnight at some point. I’ll add logs once it happens again.

As an aside, the instructions for downloading logs are stale. Here’s what they say:

Tip! : It’s easy to get a zip file of your server logs using the Download Logs button under Settings > Server > Troubleshooting in Plex Web App.

It’s actually located in Settings > Manage > Troubleshooting.

I woke up today to a notification on my phone of a successful database backup, and a non-functioning Plex server. Debug logs are attached.

Again, I woke up to a notification of a successful database backup, and Plex was broken.

I have updated the server version once or twice since, I think. Currently I’m on:

Server Version: 1.24.5.5173
Asustor NAS: AS5304T

Debug logs are attached.

It happened again.

Plex Server Version: 1.25.05282
Asustor NAS AS5304T ADM Version: 4.0.0.RN53

Debug logs are attached.

Plex stops working immediately after starting a scan on newly added media (a large amount of photos).
The Web front end from client PC indicates the server is unreachable. I have two Plex processes on the NAS, their status is “sleeping” after the crash.
Plex Server Version: 1.25.2.5319
ASUSTOR AS6604T ADM Version: 4.0.0.RN53
Logs attached.

Bump back up

I am now in the habit of checking my Plex server every morning, so I can keep this thread going, if necessary. It happened again today.

I did not have to reboot the NAS. But I did have to log in and disable/enable Plex to get it back up and running.

Plex Server Version: 1.25.3.5409-f11334058
Asustor AS5304T ADM Version: 4.0.1ROG1

Logs attached.

This happened again today. I didn’t have to reboot the NAS, but I did stop/start the Plex app to regain access. Logs attached.

Things seem to be stable for me, at least. I have gone well over a month without any problems.

I haven’t done anything on my end, so I’m assuming some updated build fixed whatever the issue was.
