Been using the new enhanced player since it came out in beta, and so far it’s been great, except for a few pretty frustrating issues.
Using Siri to skip ahead or rewind a certain amount of time does not work. For example, hold the microphone button down to access Siri and say skip ahead 1 minute and it looks like it might be doing something, but alas it either returns to the same time or skips ahead 10 sec. Same thing when asking Siri to rewind a certain amount of time.
Trying to skip ahead or rewind 10sec is choppy at best. It does work but it takes a while to get where you want to go time-wise. On the Apple player I was able to click multiple times to skip ahead 50 sec for example, and on this new player I have to click, wait until it responds, click again, etc.
Other than those two items, I luckily haven’t had any issues thus far. All (or at least 99%) of my videos are in MKV format, 1080p with 5.1 surround sound. Looks and sounds great, just please resolve the issues I mentioned.
I have the same issue. I use the AppleTV remote with voice commands like “Skip forward 2 minutes” to skip commercials in my HDHomerun DVR recorded shows. With the enhanced video player, the video skips ahead 10 - 30 seconds but not the requested amount. I’ll go back to the old player until this is address as this is one of my most used features.
I have had several videos where it will play for 1 minute. then stop and go back to the AppleTV home screen. go back to plex and play again, it will play for a further minute then stop. As soon as I turned off Enchanced player. The same video plays fine.
Well it’s March and Siri still doesn’t work, and I still have to remember to press “Menu” after pausing a show/movie and letting the screen saver appear, before I am able to press “Play” and continue watching. If I just press “Play” the show/movie will start playing behind the screen saver.
Also, now I get frame dropped playback sporadically when I watch a movie. Usually only happens once or twice during the movie and last only a minute or so. It also happened yesterday when I was watching a TV show.
