Is there a way to ensure that the Audio/Subtitle descriptions are displayed in a default language rather than their native language?
For example, rather than seeing the text Italiano or Francais I would like to see the text displayed as Italian or French.
No, there isn’t a way to change that. The idea of showing them in their own language is so the person looking for the subtitle will recognize it.
Hi MovieFan. I realize why the description is showing in the native language of the track, but I was hoping there was a setting in Plex that would allow to override/control this so we can also see it only in our native language (eg All English, All French) and have it at set at the user level. This way users who need to search based on their language of choice will have no problem and those looking to be able to read all description using the same language will have no problem.
I’m the Administrator of my Plex server and as my library grows I’m often trying to figure out which languages to add/remove from my system. As an English speaker, when I open these titles with non-English tracks it’s often impossible to identify the source language for some of these tracks, especially for languages using symbols not native to the language the person reads. This means I have to go to my server and use VLC or MediaInfo to find out which languages are in these tracks. It would be much easier/quicker if I could do this in Plex.
The same issue occurs when you try to filter a Library by Audio Language/Subtitle Language and the descriptions are only displayed in the related native language.
Is there a setting somewhere that would allow us to switch to a single language for these descriptions? If not, I’ll add it to the suggestions.
No to that too for the same reason. I get what you’re saying. It would be useful from an admin point of view, unfortunately since Web has a client portion, that is geared more towards the user and not the admin.
