there used to be an option to change sound device or channels like 5.1 or 7.1. Now its gone
I have some movies that’s 7.1 but when I play it shows 5.1 on my receiver.. I have quality set at original and maximum there is no limit in remote. The movie audio is (HE-AAC 7.1). any idea how to play this correctly so it may show 7.1?

Plex Web, Plex Desktop, Plex app on a smart tv, Plex app on a streaming stick?

Plex Web does not support multi-channel audio.
Use Plex Desktop (download, documentation) or Plex HTPC (download, documentation) instead.
In Plex Desktop for Windows:
- Settings → Plex for Windows → Player + Show Advanced
- Change the Audio Device from Auto Select to the desired device.
- You will then see additional options regarding output device, channels, etc.
