Audio conversion help - TrueHD to EAC3 7.1

I’m new to ripping 4K Blu-rays and using MakeMKV to do so. I am familiar with Handbrake, so that is what I’ve been using to compress the video. I’m getting good results as far as video quality and Dolby Vision/HDR10 support or HDR to SDR tonemapping, depending on the device.

My issue is trying to get 7.1 channel audio that will direct play without transcoding. My primary player is a Roku TV connected to a 7.1 speaker home theater that supports Atmos and DTS:X. My test rips so far have contained the Atmos TrueHD and I’ve tried converting with every audio codec in Handbrake that offers a 7.1 channel option (AAC, Vorbis, FLAC16, FLAC24, and OPUS). I’m aware that by converting the audio, I won’t get the true Atmos experience, but I don’t have height speakers anyway.

No matter which codec I select with my Roku TV, Plex transcodes the 7.1 channel audio to EAC3 7.1 for my TV. Can someone offer suggestions on how to convert the audio in my movies using EAC3 7.1 or any other 7.1 audio codec that will be able to direct play on the Roku TV? Handbrake’s highest channel count for the EAC3 codec is 5.1.
