Last night I went to watch some Plex Christmas movies and found that I was intermittently experiencing the audio dropping out. I did some Googling and found the option to Use Old Audio Engine. Once I enabled that the problem went away. This morning I turned off the Use Old Audio Engine setting and reproduced the problem. I followed the steps to collect the logs and received the attached zip file. I’ll re-enable the old audio engine but wanted to share this and see if there’s another option. Please let me know if you need anything else. Appreciate any help or suggestions.
Did you have any progress with this problem?
I have audio cutting out playing movies from my iMac to TV with Apple TV 4K box. If I use the built-in Roku player app in the TV the audio is ok (except I can’t use my HomePod speakers).
How do I Use Old Audio Engine?
Thanks!
Seeing a similar issue on apple tv. Audio cuts out every 2-5 minutes while video continues . Backing out of the video and playing again from that spot temporarily resolves the issue.
I’m still having this problem. I wonder if my problem is related to this thread. I only have this issue when playing on the Apple TV that uses the paired HomePods. If I use the Apple TV that uses my HDMI connected Sony speakers I don’t have the problem. Both Apple TVs are running Apple TVOS 17.3 and Plex Player Version 8.31. The only difference is where the audio output goes. If you want to test by turning on the old audio engine, go to your settings and scroll way down. Under the Advanced section there’s a setting called Use Old Audio Engine. I have this turned on for the Apple TV that uses the paired HomePods.
