Audio Desync after recent update

Server Version#: 1.28.1.6018
Player Version#: Google Chrome (tested on multiple PCs)

As the title states, a lot of my media is getting audio desyncs after updating to 1.28.1.6018. It will start to playback fine if I leave the media just play for a short while. These are media files that I use as “white noise” almost every single day, and have never had issues with them until trying this release. I’ve tried all the obvious, restarting Chrome and the PC, tested on different PCs, cleared cache.

After downgrading to 5999, this is still happening. I can’t downgrade again to 1.28.0.5973 (the last version where it played fine) at the moment, but I will try to later.

This happens at multiple places in playback, and can change where it happens randomly. Because of this, I’m going to include the full media file (below). But one point that is constant is the 2:00 mark onward. It will even happen from the very start of the episode, all the way through to about halfway. The playback will even go out of sync, and then sync properly when skipping around the episode.

I first noticed it with the media file below, but it seems to do it with a lot of my media. I have a few different shows that I just put on shuffle while I work from home, and a lot of them are having the desync issue.

Additionally, I noticed it seems to be certain sections of the files that cause the desync. If I leave it play through this section, it’ll will remain desynced, but then sync up after it gets through the section that causes the desync. This same thing will happen if skipping through an episode playback, or if I resume a partially played episode. It will play desynced for about 10-15 seconds, skip, and then sync up.

This isn’t a hardware failure either. These shows are stored on separate HDDs, that are setup in JBOD. All drives are healthy, the system isn’t experiencing any other strange symptoms that would cause the transcoder to process incorrectly, etc.
