Audio Drop outs - various codecs - various players

Version 7.

Over the last several months i have been experiencing a large number of periodic audio dropouts that last about 1-2 seconds. At first it seemed to only occur on AAC tracks on my Roku Ultra but has since occurred on various devices and other codecs (including TRUEHD and DTS tracks) including the player built into the Shield Pro. Sometimes setting Direct Play to FORCE will minimize the occurrence and sometimes i change to a different player and it doesn’t occur again.

Ive noticed various threads about specific codecs but havent seen any answers. this is getting very frustrating, (and embarrassing) especially when we host a movie night in our theater for lots of people.’

Ive had logs turned on for quite a while and tonight we were all watching Little Mermaid with my granddaughter and it first occurred a few minutes into the movie (~815pm CST). At that point i switched to DIRECT PLAY FORCE and the occurrences decreased sharply but i noted most of the times. I have a log which i will try to attach here along with the times. i wasnt sure which logs so i zipped up all the MEDIA SERVER and TRANSCODER logs in one package. I’m also going to try and include the MediaInfo for ‘The Little Mermaid’ as well in case that can be helpful.

I also JUST noticed that as soon as i copied the logs from the SHIELD, the SHIELD server rebooted - which has happened frequently out of nowhere.

Anyway, i am also upgrading the Shield to the ‘7.0 Experience’ to see if that might have any positive effects.

Tonight’s audio drops: Aug 18, 2018 ~8:15, 8:23, 8:38, 8:44, 8:45. 9:13 CST

Not sure if logs exist for some of these other times but these are some i noted over the last month

18 Jul - 5:55pm Chappaquidick audio (AAC) drop our for one sec then good for a few seconds
18 Jul - 6:30pm Gotti Audio (AAC) drop outs. then no audio at all. stopped stream and restarted - audio back then dropping in and out.
18 Jul - 9:55pm Fahrenheit451 (2018) AAC 5.1 Audio dropouts.

There have been MANY others - these are just some ive made memos of.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Oh… some other relevant info i forgot to add.

The Shield TV Pro Plex Server and All Players are pulling the media from a Synollogy DS1513+ NAS (8GB RAM/11.3TB) and is on a wired (cat6A) gigabit network.

Additionally, i have had periodic buffering problems where a movie will just stop and buffer to 33% and i have to stop/restart the film. Most recently with Avengers Infinity War on 16 Aug there were 4 or 5 instances throughout the movie.

Is it possible these audio dropouts can be caused by the AVR the signal is being processed by? I have the audio and video going thru a Denon AVR-X2300W.

So, i guess there’s no way to get support from the actual Plex team?
