I have two Samsung TV’s. Plex had been working fine on both. All of a sudden, one of them no longer has audio. I get both audio and video on my Surface laptop and on one of the Samsungs, but the other TV only gets video. All are connected to the same home network, which is working fine, not experiencing any other issues.
I’ve uninstalled Plex and reinstalled it. I’ve turned the audio bypass on and off. Still no audio on that TV. I’m confused by the fact that TV gets the picture fine over wifi, but no audio. I would expect all or nothing. I’m further confused by the fact that this particular TV is the only one not playing the audio properly, when my other TV and laptop play everything fine.
This also just started. I’ve been watching Plex on the TV in question for a long time - no problems.
If anyone has suggestions, I’d appreciate it.
Thanks,
Kevin
that sounds like the settings in your server. I mean in the app on TV? What version number is app on your TV with issue? Was also wondering iff you enable Feedback sounds in the Experience setting produce sounds or is it only during playback there is no sound
Thanks for responding BigWheel. Sorry for the confusion. Yes, those were the server settings. I apologize, but I cannot find the audio settings on the TV app. When I go to settings I see video and numerous other items, but not audio. Where is it?
The version on the TV in question is 9.4.1.33413 (90b62877).
Would you also be kind enough to tell me where to enable Feedback sounds?
Oh ok. I thought you were using our app for Samsung not our Android app. ( Fire TV is Android) The Feedback sounds settings is in the Samsung app not the Android app
For the Android app when you go to settings scroll down to the Advanced row of settings and look at what Passthrough is set to.
Sorry for the confusion. I never realized there were separate Plex apps, Samsung versus Android. I’ve never had any problems with my setup in the past so never learned much about it.
Passthrough was set to HDMI. I’ve also set it to disabled and optical with no change in performance.
I now realize the fewer servers I have to pass through the better, so it makes more sense to use the Samsung app than the Firestick one. I downloaded and installed the Samsung app and its working fine. No audio issues.
I’m still interested in resolving the original issue though. Where do we go from here?
may need to see the Android logs to see if it is trying to play audio at all or if it is just sending an incorrect type of signal.
You might need to change the audio settings of the Fire TV device itself.
is the Fire TV a stick connected to TV or is it connected to the sound bar? If connected to Tv you might need to either try a different HDMI port or see if you need to change settings on TV since if going through TV to soundbar.
