Hi
I have an Android TV Samsung Q65AA43 and Plex installed on it, normally i am able to play movies in all available languages, but know it will only play english no matter what is selected in the audio menu - Any one experienced same issue?
Can you provide the Android logs from the player on TV. I recall an issue like this previously which I thought was fixed. Possibly it regressed.
I have a similiar issue for the plex app on a Samsung TV (TizenOS) where it will only pick out the first audio stream in the list even if you change it. Audio stream can be changed in other clients, so it seems to be a TV specific client issue. Happy to provide logs, I assume after I’ve changed the audio track a few times?
yes please. (and please do not enable “verbose”)
the plex media info for the item you are playing may be useful as well so we know the types of subtitles and other aspects of file that might have some thing to do with it.
FYI, a Samsung Q65A runs Tizen, not Android (Samsung web page).
To obtain Plex Tizen app logs:
- In Plex app on TV, set it to log to server at debug level.
- Set Plex Media Server to log at debug level. Do not enable verbose logging.
Settings → Server_Name → General (show advanced). - Play the movie for ~30 seconds to recreate the problem.
- Stop playback.
- Pull server logs. Settings → Troubleshooting.
- Attach ZIP file to the thread.
Plex Media Server Logs_2022-01-14_17-44-07.zip (4.7 MB)
I’ve attatched my logs. File name is Harry.Potter.8.And.The.Deathly.Hallows.Part.2.2011.1080p.Rifftrax.6ch.2ch.mkv there are 3 audio streams and it only plays the first one.
Also the media info for the file:
9008.xml.log (97.6 KB)
Just remove the .log as the forum only supports certain files
Thanks for the info.

What happens when you choose the third audio track, “2.0 Movie”?
The logs show you selecting the first and second tracks, but not the third (not saying you didn’t, I just don’t see it in the logs). -
Does the problem happen with just this movie, with some movies, or all of your movies with multiple audio tracks?
-
If you’ve other movies that exhibit the problem, please look in the Media Info window and check the audio formats. Is the problematic track HE-AAC audio (codec = aac, profile = he-aac)?
In the Harry Potter 8 movie, audio track #1 and #3 are AAC-LC. Audio track #2 is HE-AAC.
Samsung docs say the TV supports HE-AAC audio.
Wondering if the problem is the Plex Tizen client playing:
- all HE-AAC audio tracks
- this specific HE-AAC audio track
- something else?
I can probably answer all of these questions overall with another situation but will answer each one indivudually below.
For the other situation: The same behaviour happens with other films as well. I have another film that has two AC3 audio steams and it only plays the first one in the list. This rules out audio codec and the number of audio tracks available.
- I selected it and the same issue. I just didn’t do it in the logging window.
- This happens with other movies and it seems all movies with multiple audio tracks.
- This happens with AC3 as described above and I’ve tried with a movie that was using EAC3, same issue
Thanks for the update.
So not an audio codec issue. I guess that would make it too easy…
At this point, I’ll defer to others on the thread/forum. I do not have a Tizen based TV, so cannot help with hands-on troubleshooting or testing.
Same issues here. My 2021 Samsung has this problem, my 2018 Samsung don’t.
Anyone from Plex looking at this? @BigWheel ?
yes. but looking at bug report it does not look like they have figure it out yet.
