Audio skipping every few seconds

I’ve been using Plex and Roku for years and have not experienced this problem until recently. When I watch episodes of a show now the audio skips or stops for a fraction of a second. This happens every 10-15 seconds or so the entire time. This is a show I’ve watch many many times and have no problems until now. I don’t know if it a current plex server issue or a current roku update issue. Or if it’s just something I need to change in settings somewhere for some reason now. Please help.
Thank you

is the file direct playing or transcoding. what sort of audio and or video codecs or does it happen with every file/codec type

Also it would be helpful if you can

  • share a sample that exhibits the issue
  • Enable remote logs before playback, so we can pull them an replicate the same setup.
  • Let us know how it’s connected (e.g. optical out or HDMI , connected to receiver or directly to TV etc)

I have exactly the same problem. Began after the last auto update of the roku plex app a couple weeks back. Playback had been perfect on all media, but now all media has the same audio jump the OP mentions.

I am using a roku streaming stick. I’ll post later to confirm more details about audio protocols and transcoding.

After disabling direct play, the issue went away. Not sure if the new software forced direct play, while previously it was transcoding or if tthe new software is just bad at direct play.

If you can possibly share a small sample file that causes issue or file details so we can see if we have a similar one it would be appreciated

Disabling direct play solved it for me! That skip was horrendous.
Thanks a ton

The ‘Preview’ App has a (temporary) fix in it for this issue:
