My audio for my .mp4 movie files runs perfectly in sync with the video when I run the .mp4 file standalone and when I run it via the Plex App on the PC where my external drive with the movies is located.
Via the Plex app off of my Roku 3 box to the TV however, some of the movies have Audio that is slightly "off" with the video. I have a Cisco router that is about 3 years old and seems to handle the other network stuff just fine.
Looking for ideas on where I can look to tweak something to fix this problem. Thanks - Mike
Going to try an Apple TV box also. Could the Roku > TV HDMI cable be a factor?
Interesting - I have another set with a Roku 3 box that doesn't have the problem, farther away from the network router. Going to try swapping both the Roku box and then the HDMI cable.
Okay, an update of my symptoms with further experience.
have .mp4 movie files, all files play 100% in sync, native on computer via Quicktime, so source is pristine.
no audio sync issues via plex.tv clients on any PC’s or Mac MacAir notebook computers
no audio sync issues on any Roku players IF I am running through the headphones
no audio sync issues via Roku Plex client > HDMI > TV IF the file is a HD 1080 one
Audio sync issues exist for any lower res .mp4 (not 1080) coming in HDMI > TV.
So, the problem seems to be with the HDMI cable and/or the TV itself (have issues on 2 HD TV’s, an LG and a Panasonic UHD.) Can solve the problem to 98% or so by adjusting “audio sync” within TV settings but the audio sync delay needed might be slightly different between the 480p movies.
Is there anything else I can do to get 100% sync up on the TV or, are there any sets/HDMI cables that don’t have this issue?
