Not sure which is the right forum for this issue. It involves a LG b6 oled, Roku premiere plus, a Denon avr3300w, and a win10 pc running my server.
I was watching a blu ray rip (h264) of original total recall. I rip all my movies with makemkv. That is all… I don’t do anything else to them. My plex app on the roku was set to full bitrate/original (25mbps in the case of this particular rip). Oh yeah…my roku and my pc are wired via ethernet through my router. I noticed that about 12 min into the movie that the audio was just slightly ahead of the video. If you are familiar with the film, I started to notice the issue as arnold was talking to a coworker in a mining pit about the recall company. I noticed the voices didn’t match the lip movements. The very next scene has arnold pressing keys on a clicky keyboard at the recall company. The clicks were slightly off as well. Very next scene the secretary is using some pen shaped device to color her nails. Again the sound was slightly ahead of the video. I switched the roku from full bitrate/original to 20mbps transcoding and the sync issue disappeared. Switching back to original/full bitrate brought the very slight audio sync issue back. So…I also have a premiere plus in my kitchen paired to a vizio 1080p lcd, and a third premiere plus in my bedroom paired to a samsung 720p plasma. The bedroom roku is wired ethernet but the kitchen one is wifi (5mghz to my tp-link router…I have 300mbps internet, not that it should matter). The roku’s in my kitchen and bedroom are also set to full bitrate/original, BUT neither has this audio/video sync issue. I switched back and forth between full bitrate/original and 20mbps transcoding on both rokus and saw/heard no difference in audio/video sync on these same scenes. I then switched the roku premiere plus from the bedroom and living room (where the oled is) and the same issue cropped up! So then I bypassed the denon receiver and went straight to the tv from the roku. The audio/video sync issue on full bitrate/original persisted! I’m baffled. The sound sync issue is there whether the audio plays straight from the denon (I’m not using ARC) or straight from the tv speakers. It exists with two different rokus when used with the oled, but not when used with the samsung plasma. I have not tried watching these scenes on the oled tv’s built-in plex app yet. The only other common denominator is the hmdi cable or the #3 hdmi input I’m using on the oled TV. I plan on playing around with those scenarios tonight.
