I recently had a strange experience with a movie on Plex. The movie is in 2 files, named correctly so they play as expected. I ripped the movie over a year ago using MakeMKV and all worked as it should. I view movies using Roku.
About 2 weeks ago I copied all of my movies to a new media server/NAS.
I was spot checking that the movies still worked as they should, but in this movie the 1st file plays as expected but the second file has narration as well. I checked the setting for the movie and, as expected, it listed 3 audio streams:
English (AC3 mono)
French (AC3 mono)
English (AC3 stereo)
English mono was selected
I ran the movie several times to see if I could figure out what was going on. One time I when I checked the audio streams it said “AC3Stereo (copy)” when playing the second file. When I checked again it said “AC3 mono” as it should, but it plays like a stereo stream with the narration.
Any ideas on what’s going on and how to fix this? If there isn’t a fix, I plan to rip the movie again and see if that cures the problem.
