Problems with 2 disc movie playback in Plex

Server Version#: Version 4.116.1
Player Version#:Playback on Plex Server and Plex for Windows

Hi,

i am experiencing a strange issue: recently i have converted the extended versions of Lord of the rings series ( The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring-EXTENDED version for example) with makemkv. This extended versions contain 2 bluray discs.I have named the two mkv containers like this: "The Lord of the Rings:The Fellowship of the Ring-EXTENDED CUT PT1 and The Lord of the Rings:The Fellowship of the Ring-EXTENDED CUT PT1. Plex is doing a great job in detecting the two files as one movie. Also auto continue works fine (when the first part ends Plex automatically continues with the second part). No here comes the weird part: when playing the movie on Plex server or on a windows device with plex for windows the second part is automatically played with english audio (also i have watched the first part in german). Strange thing also is: when checking the configured audio format it is still set to german audio. No when i go ahead and choose another language the movie continues but without any audio (doesn’t matter which language i choose) or plex playback crashes.
If i watch the movie with the Plex app on an IOS device the whole movie is played without the short delay between the first and second part AND i can choose whatever language i want without any issue.
This is not an issue of the two files because i am able to switch between any language when opening the two files seperatly (for example with VLC player).
Also this happens with every part of the extended versions …
I have tried everything i can imagine but i am out of ideas to be honest. Also google search didn’t really find something with a similar behaviour…
Maybe someone of you guys has encountered a similar problem or has an idea what might be the issue in this case.

I can only recommend you to do this instead: [HowTo]: joining multi-part movies files with MKVtoolnix GUI
