Forgive me if this has been answered before, but I couldn’t find anything in the forums.
I’m accessing content on a friend’s server, and no matter what I choose here (https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/account) the media will always play with English subtitles automatically chosen. This is true whether I’m watching on the webplayer, Chromecast, or the PS4 app. If I play my own content, the media follows the rules (no automatic subs unless foreign audio). This seems to be a new problem that I can’t solve, and my friend can’t seem to find any settings relevant to me as a user on his end.
(This is a server setting, so he would have to go to it and correct things in there) If that link doesn’t work for him, he can go to Settings>Languages which is about 2/3 way down on the left.
Thanks for your response! I’ve had him check that setting, and he’s had it toggled between manual and automatic (subtitle only shown with foreign audio). Neither seems to change what I see on my end.
Also, I thought that my account settings would overrule those server-side settings anyway. Is that wrong?
tbh, that setting is somewhat of a mystery… I’ve inquired about it, and multiple moderators and users have given me different answers hehe… I just uncheck the box at the top so it doesn’t do anything for the users connecting…
Subtitles have been semi-broken for a while now… They used to work one way, but then something about how they get loaded automatically changed (stopped working correctly for how I had it initially set up). So I just ended up burning in all of my subtitles for things that had a foreign language (japanese, italian, french, whatever) and for foreign language parts in english movies. I then removed every subtitle, removed subzero, and turned off plex looking for subtitle files…
