Auto switch to 3D mode when playing a 3d movie?

Hi,
I have a Samsung 4k 3D TV. I have a HTPC running Open PHT hooked up to my tv. Currently when i have to watch a 3d movie, i have to use the tv remote to turn 3D ON. i know the apps installed on the TV itself, can switch the tv to 3d mode when playing 3d content.
Is there a way that Open PHT can do the same i.e turn the tv’s 3d mode on when it detects playback of a 3d movie?

Did some research and it seemed that naming the file correctly to specify a 3D tag would have resolved this but that doesnt seem to be working. Any ideas? Thanks

I’ve seen this question asked before, so I can only repeat what I understood to be the answer before. I don’t have a 3d tv local here to test on.

From what I understand, the TV is not smart enough to understand the 3d signal is being sent over HDMI and switch it’s settings. The internal TV apps are using an internal API via unsolicited message to notify it that the video stream is a 3d stream and the TV then switches it’s settings. That TV API is not available via an HDMI connection so it doesn’t work.
